It begins...

I never imagined that I would be starting a blog. I know my way around a computer fairly well, but I’m not particularly chat site or blog driven. I mostly use it for pretend online shopping (i.e., putting fantastic stuff in a shopping bag, and then deciding I'm poor, and exiting the website). I don’t even own a Mac (gasp!), unlike my mother, who has 2 Macs, an iTouch, an iPod, and a Kindle. Go figure!

Then, my best friend in the whole world decided to get married. Surprise! I was the “honorary” maid of honor, in charge of helping BFF take care of her details. I began following outstanding wedding blogs for ideas. The wedding ended up being absolutley beautiful. And I should have stopped reading the wedding blogs…but I kept reading. Every day. Several blogs…sometimes up to 10 or 15....yikes.

So I went soul searching. I’ve never been one of the girls who dreamily prepared for their wedding day, who know the color of their bridesmaid dresses and have a scrapbook lovingly decorated with the wedding details. (Ahem – cousin Anna). I’ve always believed in waiting until you’ve chosen your partner whose personality and values should influence the decisions made. I couldn’t figure out why I, of all people, was so engaged in the wedding blogs!

But then I realized…I have always been a girl captivated by aesthetics, by pretty things, by make-up, by design, by artistic projects and crafts, by painting, by events and by party planning!
(I must throw out a mention here to Team DAM - the best girlfriends in the world - with whom I never would have realized my love of party planning. Our Monday Night Theme Nights and all our parties rocked my world!). And the most memorable, stunning, exciting, moving, artistic event, is in my opinion, a wedding.

So I'm going to stop apologizing for being such a girly girl, and I’m going to start my own blog. I want to challenge assumptions, explore love, inspire women …but more than that (I hate to admit my shallow tendencies but I’m going to embrace them!!), I want to share lots of sweet, gorgeous, motivating, entertaining, inspirational ideas for all of life, the facets of love, and weddings!

Wish me luck!
